Although the annual convention of the National Federation of the Blind is a venerable institution with many established traditions that has just completed its eighty-sixth iteration, each gathering is also unique.

The Final General Session, Inspiration and Information The morning began with an invocation from Amar Tarin of the Muslim faith.

He opened by singing the opening verses of the Quran and providing a translation, shared a brief prayer asking God to guide and bless the work of the convention and to ease suffering around the world, and closed with a hadith, or lesson from the life of the Prophet Muhammad.

After a PAC report and door prizes, the convention had the privilege of hearing from a blind music artist, writer, and entrepreneur whose professional name is Lachi.

Participation in past conventions by blind celebrities has sometimes been hit or miss, but there is universal agreement that her charming, upbeat, and funny presentation truly contributed to the 2026 gathering.
