Labyrinth Lord

Yep, we're playing the same system.

We're doing Labyrinth Lord, keeping it simple.

We've played two sessions up to this point.

First time, he killed a couple kobolds.

But he made it on his first, so he continued.

And as it stands, we've got probably one more session.

It was probably a little bit more... helpful with some of the hints about where traps and secret doors might be, that kind of thing, but he was quick as a snake and latched on, found the rug on the floor, hiding the pitfall trap for the kobolds, and was able to sniff out the secret room and up to this a human raised by elves so we're doing labyrinth lord beck me you know like racist class so he's basically playing an elf but he didn't want to play an elf he wants to play a human but very much with the uh the nature affinity And so he has access to spells, so he discovered the strength of magic missile, which is good, because he totally nuked a kobold, which is great.

And in the secret room, he discovered a rod of some sort of magical spells.

I do like a couple of them, and I often see these posts on Reddit or wherever say, "Hey, what's a good thing to start with?" And everyone, everyone always says the same thing.

Um, you know, Basic Fantasy, Labyrinth Lord, DCC, whatever.

But so I don't think there's like a right answer.

I started running this in 2010 when I was getting into old-school D&D.

I ran it originally with Labyrinth Lord, and then I actually had to write myself a little timeline to figure out all the campaigns I've run over the years.

And I can see that I ran about... three different campaigns with different groups, but in the same setting.

They were just logical continuations of each other.

I guess I have them.

Which is not terribly helpful when I keep changing the system I'm running.

I started this game in Labyrinth Lord.

I switched to BX.
