So I just found myself in this unique opportunity where I had a bit of downtime.

I had access to La Trobe University.

library because I was studying a master's at the time.

And I used my downtime really, really positively.

And then that's been a major problem in netballers.

It really sent me on a deep dive into the ACL world where I first came across the Melbourne ACL Rehab Guide.

We had one of our players going through that and that opened up doors to meeting you and La Trobe University.

And it just opened up this massive, kind of network of people who yeah i'm just still pinching myself being able to yeah yeah follow follow that kind of path after a simple blog where i didn't think it was going to go anywhere it opened up a yeah a completely new world to me which was has been really cool

Today, we're diving into Australia's distinctive voting system, and my guest wrote the book on this subject.

Judith Brett is a distinguished political historian and Emeritus Professor of Politics at Melbourne's La Trobe University, and the author of many award-winning books and essays, including From Secret Ballot to Democracy Sausage.

We're going to be speaking with Patricia Howice, who is the Managing Director of La Trobe AI Institute.

Oh, well, I sort of, you know, Phil, I mean, compared to sort of some of the high-powered academics who, you know, in that role, I mean, I sort of feel, I usually just call myself Dr. Peter Brook now.

And, but yeah, I'm a professor of sports medicine at La Trobe University in Melbourne.

And, you know, I guess, you know, my research record is not amazing, but I'm more of a sort of a mentor and a facilitator and a leader rather than a pure researcher and so on.

But fortunately, I work with some fantastic people and the if i can help them a little bit that's that's great so yeah i really enjoy my uh my university involvement i never thought i would be an academic and as i said i'm not a pure academic probably but uh i really enjoy working with academics and working with these super smart young people who are just fun and dynamic and uh yeah it's a good place to be
