LA Film Festival

And anyway, it all worked.

And that movie won Best Horror Film at the now defunct L.A. Film Festival when it debuted.

at its premiere.

So then I was like-

He won an Oscar for his first student film.

he was just bestowed the luminary award at the um academy uh ball that they do uh so you know he's he's gotten his flowers uh very recently been watching him doing a lot of panels at the moment because the la film fest did a sort of a series of retrospectives on his films and he had some fantastic panels with kurt russell and with jamie lee curtis and He's such a quick-witted, fun guy.

And he is not at all what you'd expect him to be.

He's a staunch, lefty, progressive liberal.

Okay.

We'll just finish in my point then because it leads straight into it.

not having a movie star at its centre Ruddy Rodney Piper he works even though he's not like a a movie star I think it's because he's cast so close to who he is like a proper working class like labour type a bit dense On those panels, those LA Film Fest panels he spoke about, they live and he's so sort of magnanimous, John Carpenter is towards Roddy Piper where he's saying, you know, in the 80s, these wrestler guys, they were beating the shit out of themselves.

They were in... genuine physical pain.

And so, yeah, and that's sort of, that's sort of my, you know, my first feature was the same way.

I made it with Oliver Cooper again, but back in, we shot in 2011, premiered in 2013 at the LA Film Festival, but it was with him and his real life aunt.

We shot at her house with her four dogs.

That's why it's called Four Dogs, F-O-U-R.

2013.

We premiered this at LA Film Festival.

I should know that.

I know.
