La Chinoise

But currently online, so not in the book that just came out, one of the characters...

So I was wa- rewatching "La Chinoise," the, the Godard movie.

And have you seen that recently enough?

Not recently, no. [laughs]

Okay.

So there's, like, a, "La Chinoise" about, like, a, a, a, you know, um, a Maoist, um, cell of young people, young sort of academ- you know, young, uh, students, basically, in, in France.

Actually, let, let me interrupt and say, I'm not following this too closely, but their student protests are wrecking France right now as we speak, so I can't do this-

I didn't know that.

But to your point, I think you have to ignore a lot of Goddard's previous films to come away with that idea.

You have to ignore Weekend and La Chinoise.

But I mean, I guess the way I think about it is when people say they like Goddard, but they don't like these kind of post 68 films or Weekend or whatever, which is pre 68.

But, you know, they're really talking about a very small number of films.
