L'Enfant Plan

DC.

Yeah, DC, yeah, because of the L'Enfant Plan, and that was done with the inspiration of European cities and, and the Baroque planning with axial relationships and such.

But Detroit is one of those cities.

Yeah

Now, to plan our new federal city, 'cause D.C. is unique in that it is fully planned out, unlike, say, like a Boston or a Philly or a New York, George Washington hires, and we're about to get to the National Mall, this Frenchman named Pierre L'Enfant, or Peter L'Enfant.

So Pierre L'Enfant is one of these really important visionaries, and the L'Enfant Plan, as people call it, is still something you can see in the design of D.C. and the National Mall.

Now, L'Enfant had fought in the American Revolution, uh, but by training he was an artist and a city planner.

He's from Paris, and so he is the one who lays out the plans.
