Kyle Smith

Yeah.

So, uh, Wall Street Journal's film critic Kyle Smith praised the film writing, "The movie's puzzle palace look and its boldly consistent color scheme conjure up a deep in the bones unease that much more experienced directors rarely manage to create.

Backrooms may not be a fully explained wander, but it's well worth the wander."

Mm-hmm.

Meanwhile, film critic for The New Yorker, Justin Chang, panned the film writing, "The deeper we plunge and the more we get to know the phantasms of Clark's anguished psyche, the more Backrooms seems to shrink conceptually into a hard, unsatisfying nubbin of a movie."

Okay.

Whatever.

But a bad movie is a bad movie is a bad movie.

Kyle Smith, gosh, I wish I could say exactly what he said, but he's one of the few critics who saw it.

And he

said something akin to, it's a bad movie pretending to be a bad movie.

He can be blustery, but he's so entertaining and with what he writes, and also deep down, he loves movies dearly.

And you know, the never never lose sight of that.

I mentioned Kyle Smith seconds ago.

He's tough.
