Where did this become something meaningful to you, or where did you start to really dig into this?
10:01
You know, I mean, I just think as a Christian, we're thinking about our faith and we're thinking about how to live faithfully unto the Lord.
10:09
The mystery of the incarnation is something that's beautiful to us, you know, and it has to be as we just think about the mysterious and glorious fact that one of the Trinity became one of us, that he who is eternal and incomprehensible God took on flesh as john says he became like us in all things as the writer of hebrews says so that he became one of us in order to redeem us in order that he could be a merciful and faithful high priest and things pertaining to god to make propitiation for our sins you know this is this is the heart of the christian faith and so um in the person of christ we have you know the most blessed and beautiful truths of the faith coming together because here we have the doctrine of the trinity on full display uh we have the the redeeming mercy of god to save sinners on full display uh the the radical links as it were to which god went to save us um that as paul puts it you know rather colloquially he who was rich for our sakes was made poor um and so you know you just you can't help but meditate on the beauty of the incarnation and then as i you know grew in my own understanding of what the bible actually says about what it means for god to be god and what it means for man to be man, and the fact that the realities of the godness of God and the manness of man, if you will, are mutually exclusive to one another.
11:44
To be man is to be not God, and to be God is to be not man.
11:49
And this contrast is explicit throughout the scriptures.
11:52
So you have the Lord saying things like, I'm not a man.
11:55
that I should change my mind or that I should lie.

Is that something we can read and say, hey, that's what Jesus did, that's what we should do? Is it something that's more unique to his high priestly role? How do we apply that in the counseling room, for example, to someone who's suffering? Is that a direct one-for-one? Are there caveats to it? How would you go about that?
