Kydex

That's fair, fair way to put it.

The rules say that the c- uh, holster has to cover the, the slide of the gun, so I bought a piece of Kydex.

I think I started out with a piece of paper, kind of like traced it out, kind of get an idea of how big it should be.

Bought a few pieces of Kydex and cut out the shape, and then shot it with a heat gun and created a shell.

That wraps around to the rear screws-

Yeah

They had like your traditional brass and they have like another one.

But yeah, Joe's got, Joe has a modern day version of the trench knife with a custom Kydex sheath that I would have killed to have on my kit a time or two.

I might need to treat myself to one of those for a retirement gift.

Interesting.

It keeps on going.

Uh, I know there are people who have grown up with Kydex.

And i- if you grew up with Kydex and you're looking at leather and you're thinking, "Man, that's old-fashioned.

That looks like that would wear out.

I just, I just don't know how long a, a leather holster's gonna last."

You know, okay, I'm gonna say something that some people are gonna think sounds weird.

But if you know, you know.

No one ever picked up a Kydex holster and smelled it.

Because you should enjoy what you're buying.

Otherwise, what happens is, you know, guys tuck them in a safe.

And they're like, hey, I'm thinking about selling stuff.

Come on over to the house.

Cool.

Number one, for all my B-Tech lovers out there, working with Havoc Holsters, which is a local company, and we've got a Kydex.

That's cool.

Oh, that's cool.

I got to get with you.

Yeah,

I want one of those Kydex cases.

That thing's pretty cool.

Hmm.

Now, I feel like this bears pointing out, but, like, for those of us who make a regular habit of wear- of carrying guns around, either outside the waistband or inside the waistband, a stiff duty belt really helps keep that gun where it's supposed to be.

Oh, yeah.

And I don't mean, like, the little woven leather dress belt or whatever cheap $15 thing you got off Amazon, but, like, a legitimate good duty belt.

It's probably over three-eighths of an inch thick.

Yeah.

And I, I've seen these things, like, reinforced with spring steel on the inside-

Mm-hmm

That is another-

We got Kydex here, three eighths thick, quarter inch thick Kydex.

Just it takes you two seconds on the band saw to cut something.

This is another thing, like Tyler was talking about earlier, like talking about people, we work as easy, but what do we do? I don't e- even know anymore.

It's really incredible.

And the features and stuff that we can build now into Kydex shells and add into the processes is even blows my mind to this day versus like how we started five and a half years ago, middle of 2020.

So it's like, you know, like you said, like, we kind of like to take the less is more approach in some ways, but like all of our new stuff that's coming out is like jam packed with innovation and features that help people carry better every single day and allows you to comfortably carry for hours on end.

And, and, you know, we made the joke on YouTube, I guess, a couple of weeks ago when we released our new low pro X model that we often are wearing it on road trips and, you know, traveling or whatever in and out of vehicles.

Yeah.

So I was like, okay, whatever.

And I haven't tried your guys, but I will say when I got the T-Rex one, I was absolutely surprised that there is really a way to index better off of even that light without just feeling like it's just a sandwich of friction with the Kydex.

Or if you use a lot of Kydex, somebody leaves Kydex in a hot truck.

It deforms, starts to soften up around 160 degrees.

Yeah.

He just makes leather.

So if you're a Kydex person...

Um, and, um, uh, and he, he had to close up his leatherworking shop a couple of years ago for various reasons.

Um, and, uh, he, he's decided to, uh, that, that he has the, he has the time.
