Kybalion

The road up and the road down is one and the same.

And this brings me to polarity, the fourth hermetic principle of the Kybalion, published in 1908.

The Kybalion purported to be a study of the hermetic knowledge of ancient Egypt and Greece, but was actually written by a dude named William Walker Atkinson going by the tripartite name of the Three Initiates.

But don't sleep on the Kybalion.

Although the writing may be uneven in places, the principles themselves are, in my opinion, rock solid.

The principle of polarity itself is not a cheap gloss on earlier philosophical or hermetic premises.

Much of the reality you live in today was created by a frequency you never consciously chose.

An old Hermetic principle set down in 1908 in The Kybalion explains how this is possible: "The All is mind; and the Universe is mental." If reality begins in mind, then the state you sustain inside is already your part in its creation.

Horatio W. Dresser, one of the early voices of New Thought, wrote in 1895 that, "The mind shapes the conduct and draws to itself whatever corresponds to the thought." Most people try to change their reality by fighting their circumstances.

This essay follows the opposite path: how your identity forms the frequency you live from, how that frequency meets the possibilities that answer it, and why the new state has to be lived before anything outside confirms it.

Which frequency is creating your life right now?

[gentle music] The Kybalion was published in 1908 by authors who signed only as "The Three Initiates." The book brings together seven principles attributed to the Hermetic tradition, the body of teachings associated with Hermes Trismegistus, a legendary sage regarded as the master of hidden wisdom.

The first of these principles is mentalism.

Its formulation is short: "The All is mind, and the Universe is mental." To understand it, it helps to begin with the word All.

No one on Earth has any other way but upward.

There is a book that I am sure you're familiar with or at least heard of called The Kybalion.

You may have also heard the arguments against it.

Comment section experts are quick to point out that it is a modern text and not a true, authentic, cryptic manuscript written by the hand of some divinely begotten ancient sages endowed with ancient wisdom.

Understanding it takes the kind of focus and insight that comes from first stepping one foot in the door.

the truth is that beneath the material chemistry astronomy and psychology that is the psychology in its phase of brain action the ancients possessed a knowledge of transcendental astronomy called astrology of transcendental chemistry called alchemy of transcendental psychology called mystic psychology they possess the inner knowledge as well as the outer knowledge the latter alone being possessed by modern scientists among the many secret branches of knowledge possessed by the hermetists was that known as mental transmutation which forms the subject matter of this lesson Transmutation is a term usually employed to designate the ancient art of the transmutation of metals, particularly of the base metals into gold.

The word transmute means to change from one nature, form, or substance into another to transform, and accordingly, mental transmutation means the art of changing and transforming mental states, forms, and conditions into others.

just as you student may create a universe of your own in your mentality so does the all create universes in its own mentality but your universe is the mental creation of a finite mind whereas that of the all is the creation of an infinite mind the two are similar in kind but infinitely different in degree we shall examine more closely into the process of creation and manifestation as we proceed but this is the point to fix in your minds at this stage the universe, and all it contains, is a mental creation of the all.

Verily, indeed, all is mind.

The all creates in its infinite mind countless universes, which exist for eons of time, and yet, to the all, the creation, development, and decline and death are of a million universes is as the time of the twinkling of an eye the kybalion the infinite mind of the all is the womb of universes the kybalion the principle of gender is manifested on all planes of life material mental and spiritual But as we have said before, gender does not mean sex.

Sex is merely a material manifestation of gender.

To Hermes Trismegistus, known by the ancient Egyptians as the Great Great and Master of Masters, this little volume of Hermetic teachings is reverently dedicated.
