Kurt Tippett

I thought I'd just go into football coaching.

Um, but then when I was in my first job in the AFL, in the coaching ranks, I was at the Crows when they had the Kurt Tippett saga.

And, uh, you know, with all the controversies happening with Geelong and Sydney at the moment, it's kind of reminded me of that, where the club was in crisis and I, as the young coach, was like, "I'm gonna do something to help this, and I'm gonna go overseas, find what I can about psychology, trying to make... you know, find those 1% gains for players." And while I was there, uh, I ran into this program that invited me to do a master's and I signed up and, and kinda deferred it.

Then, uh, they sacked Brenton Sanderson.

I personally loved it, and I'm sure everyone else did, and I feel like it's just whittled off a little bit recently.

We did get the Kurt Tippett files, which were a massive hit, so...

I was wondering if maybe, Sam, you could do one to see out the year.

We would all appreciate that.

So I was coaching at the Crows as a development coach or head of development.

And then when they had the Kurt Tippett saga and we lost some draft picks, I was like, fuck, we've got to find an edge here.

on this? Yes, you can.

I don't know whether you can do that for something like a concussion issue.

You can certainly do it for what Adelaide did, which was have a second private contract for Kurt Tippett, which was basically all about squeezing some more money in that wasn't inside the salary cap.

That's not what Geelong has done here.

But what Geelong has done here is ethically very questionable and was outside of the rules.

Yeah.

Um, I think, well, Peter Blucher, a player-manager, was also suspended over, uh, Kurt Tippett, which I always felt was a bit unfair, but, um-
