And Greg KH has a very interesting thing about how LLMs have impacted stuff where you have people being able to find vulnerabilities super quick and people not being able to patch things quite as quick until they kind of caught up.
FélimHOST
19:13
And yeah, there's a lot of CVs out there every notification email from canonical where you get like hundreds sometimes well maybe it's not hundreds but it's it's well up in the the multiples of 10 cv numbers per kernel release so yeah i think this is great because there are a few where if you're trying to do compliance and there's a compliance tool saying oh you're vulnerable to cv blah it'd be really nice to have quicker updates and that stuff so i'd be all for that Though I do often wonder why Kubuntu doesn't use the upstream LTS and then apply all their stuff on top of that.
FélimHOST
19:52
Maybe Canonical wants to tell us because I would like that.
JoeHOST
19:56
Did he say Kubuntu there when he meant Ubuntu? Possibly.
JoeHOST
19:59
I don't know.
JoeHOST
19:59
All right.

That's, that's kind of like when someone says, "Well, technically," and that just means you can quit listening at that point.
Ken McDonaldHOST
71:06
[laughs] That's like saying, "Kubuntu's built on Ubuntu." So Ubuntu's no- not a Linux distro.
Jonathan BennettHOST
71:15
[laughs] Uh, something like that.
Jeff MassieHOST
71:20
It's...

Yeah.
JoeHOST
16:08
He just found fault with everything, said that everything was hideous and blah, blah, blah.
JoeHOST
16:12
Well, well, well, well, he's only using Kubuntu right now.
JoeHOST
16:17
And he's only, he's got like various external SSDs and, you know, various SSDs connected to his computer.
JoeHOST
16:25
And he has encrypted them with Lux now rather than BitLocker.

Brodie RobertsonHOST

I think it would be very interesting if Ubuntu did a similar thing.
Brodie RobertsonHOST
52:31
Imagine if Ubuntu made Kubuntu, like, a mainline Ubuntu version.
Brodie RobertsonHOST
52:39
I don't think it's going to happen.
Brodie RobertsonHOST
52:40
But it would be kind of funny.
MajidHOST
5:22
And so I thought, well, what do I put on here? Well, I'll tell you what.
MajidHOST
5:27
I'll put on Kubuntu because he's the kind of guy that likes...
MajidHOST
5:32
If you know what I mean? Um, and you know, let's be honest, KD plasma is the most configurable of all of the, the D E's are out there.
MajidHOST
5:42
So I did that.
MajidHOST

And anyway, in the end, we managed to get something.
MajidHOST
8:16
We basically got my daughter's laptop, which runs Windows, and connected that up to an external webcam and microphone and managed to get it to work and stuff like that.
MajidHOST
8:28
But I just could not understand why it wasn't working on Kubuntu.
MajidHOST
8:32
And then, as I said, when I was seeing my wife and, you know, she had no idea that she had to allow things on the browser so that, you know, I'd have access to the microphone or this kind of stuff.

You know, when you install KDE from Vanilla experience from the repo and Linux Mint, I mean, I don't know, what do you got? Is it really Mint anymore? You kind of, you know, they put all their work into their flagships, Cinnamon and XFCE, you know, I don't know.
Jeff MassieHOST
65:54
You're almost Kubuntu at that point.
Rob CampbellHOST
65:57
Almost.
Rob CampbellHOST
65:58
Without snaps, though, that's the argument people say.
