Kubo and the Two Strings

You know, like something, like you said, like something doesn't work.

It's like, oh, like on Kubo.

Yeah.

You know, there's a shot where monkey turns around to look at Kubo.

Yeah.

But her neck can only go this far.

you're getting inspired by the form language of the sculpt, and then you're adding mechanical means to create a type of movement that is completely unnaturalistic, but you're making a distinct personality through the mechanical and the form language together.

It tells me who the character is, right? Yeah.

I also made a few movies for my kids.

Cuba and the Two Strings with Travis Knight and Singing Thing 2 with Garth Jennings.

All stories I found fascinating, original and worth telling.

All experiences I would not trade.

Yeah.

And he likes to try, I mean, you know, Cuba and the Two Strings, not a kind of film you would expect him to do.

And then Sing.

I mean, it's funny what I've watched Sing and Sing Too many times with kids.

It has the potential to be one of LAIKA's best.

I think Shannon has said before, uh, I think we're in the agreement that Kubo is probably o- the best film-

Hmm

... that LAIKA's done so far.

Uh, obviously Coraline was their first, and a lot of people love it, but I think that this potentially could surpass Kubo if the story is as good as the visuals.

Yeah.

So I'm very, very excited, and I'm excited to see what it does just as far as the bigger picture of the types of movies that people are gravitating, uh, towards in theaters.

It's definitely made for, um, the people who appreciate this kind of artistry and this kind of animation.

I've talked about some media, and I've been trying to throw in what are things some kids can enjoy as well, or what you could show your younger kids.

And this might be weird, but there is a stop-motion movie called Kubo of the Two Strings.

I think that's the name of it, which...

It's kind of like a fantasy adventure inspired by Japanese culture a little bit.
