Kualoa Ranch

It has nothing to do with Kahlua.

It is called Kualoa Ranch, and when they first kept saying Kahlua Ranch, they were, like, pronouncing it that way, but I was like, well, maybe they just, they're just sort of, like, missing a syllable or two.

But then they started writing it as Kahlua, and I did need to reach out to them and just have them clarify that they were not going to, um, a ranch related to the alcoholic coffee liqueur that Papa Mouselet sometimes drinks.

I'm here at Kualoa Ranch Education Center, and joining me now we have the Ahupua'a Ambassador, Passion Pescaya-Tangaro.

That's the thing.

Kualoa Ranch is more than just the fun tours that they have.

There's so much education behind it, and I think you guys are doing such a great job.

They planned to rely on shuttles and rideshares for their whole Oahu trip.

First stop was Kualoa Ranch, and they added the shuttle option, which runs about $30 a person round trip from Waikiki.

So for family four, that's $120 before they've done anything else.

It got them there and back fine, but it also meant they were locked into the shuttle's schedule, dropped off, and picked up at set times with zero ability to linger on the windward side afterward.

From there, we got to see a little bit of agriculture on Oahu.

We went up to Kualoa Ranch and took a tour up there.

Mostly that's where they filmed Jurassic Park and stuff like that.

So we got to see that, but also there's a ton of cattle up there.

When I think of Hokule'a, I think of a large group of people building her.

Well, when it came to lashing, then, you know, she was already at Kualoa, and Mau is here, and they've started putting it together, and then people start coming around.

But the actual build was pretty much four.

And every now and then Herb would come down and Ben Finney would come down and they'd make comments about this and that.

on the launch? You know, at the launch at Kualoa, they were, you know, calling all people to come help pull the lines.

But then when I went to go help pull her in, they said, no, only men.

So speaking of being able to go off property, you guys did a ton.

Pearl Harbor, North Shore, Kualoa Ranch.

What ended up being the biggest surprise or maybe a favorite experience that stuck out for your family?

My guys loved surfing.
