Kristin Scott Benson

I first got to know, when we got to be on the road with you, was the time period when Kristen was in the band.

Kristen Scott Benson.

That's right.

She was, at that time, in high school.

I got another list on the other side of people that's filled in, and I turn the paper over.

And the banjo players that I've had have stayed with me longer than anybody, bass players, fiddle players, or guitar players.

Really? And Rick Allred, Dale Vanderpool, Kristen Scott Benson, twice.

Kenny Ingram for 10 years? Yeah.

The Graskills have been part of the bluegrass landscape for more than 20 years, combining traditional bluegrass with a strong country influence and a reputation for polished vocal and instrumental work.

The current line-up features Jamie Johnson and John Bryan on guitar and vocals, Danny Roberts on mandolin, Kristen Scott Benson on banjo, Jamie Harper on fiddle and Kyle Perkins on bass.

Kristen is a six-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year, while several members of the band have long histories with other major bluegrass and country acts.

Their 2026 album, Not That Gone, is the band's first release for Billy Blue Records.

Mickey Harris is doing bass and some lead vocals in the choruses.

Kristen Scott Benson playing banjo.

Wayne Benson on mandolin.

Stuart Duncan on fiddle.

That was Sally Jones and Calico Plains there.

Hard to play that sort of banjo rhythm right through a song.

Kristen Scott Benson did a great job there.

You're listening to Back Porch Bluegrass.
