An interesting tension between belief and disbelief.

Fast-forward to the early '90s when an unexpected subgenre emerged, Krishnacore.

Shelter and 108 were the first two bands to bring Hare Krishna spirituality straight to a hardcore set list.

They didn’t just sprinkle mantras between riffs.

This paradox, combining intense punk music with devotional chant, showed how flexible punk’s framework is.

You can add a mantra or drop a sermon without losing core energy.

The Krishnacore movement grew enough to create a whole DIY circuit of record labels and fanzines that supported both hardcore shows and Krishna spiritual practices.

But religion was never confined to the Hare Krishna niche.
