Korahites

Shalom was the son of Kor, a descendant of Abiasaph from the clan of Korah.

He and his relatives, the Korahites, were responsible for guarding the entrance to the sanctuary, just as their ancestors had guarded the tabernacle in the camp of the Lord.

Phineas, son of Eleazar.

We know Phineas, son of Eleazar.

These are the divisions of the gatekeepers.

From the Korahites there was Meshelemiah, son of Koreh, of the family of Abiasaph.

The sons of Meshelemiah were Zechariah, the oldest, Jediahel, the second, Zebadiah, the third, Jathniel, the fourth, Elam, the fifth, Jehohanan, the sixth.

and Eliehoenai, the seventh.

All these men were heads of fathers' houses by their fathers' houses.

And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, was ruler over them in time past, and Jehovah was with him.

Zechariah, the son of Meshal-emaiah, was porter of the door of the tent of meeting.

And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah, then for Zechariah his son, a discreet counsellor.

They cast lots, and his lot came out northward.

And the Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, shouting in a very loud voice.

And all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the Lord.

Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.

Early in the morning, they left from the desert of Tekoa.

As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Listen to me, Judah.

Yes, you've got in the book of Psalms a number of Psalms that are dedicated or have Korah's name associated with them, the Korahites.

Because Korah, the Korahites are another Levite strand, Levite family, there might have been people who were ministering in their priestly functions who were of the Aaronide clan that were like, yeah, this is a Korahite altar cover.

Well, why aren't Korahites ministering? Well, let me tell you a story about these Korahites, including On, but forget about On.

And This was a Levitical choir appointed by David to serve as musicians in the temple worship.

The Korahites were descendants of Korah, who was the great-grandson of Levi, the head of one of the twelve tribes of Israel.

Their leader in the days of David was Heman, just as Asaph led the choir of the Gershonites, and Ethan, also called Jeduthun, led the choir of the Merorites.

So when I read this psalm, it certainly shows the history of God, shows the confidence of God and praises God.

The Korahites were descendants of Korah, who was the great-grandson of Levi, the head of one of the twelve tribes of Israel.

Their leader in the days of David was Heman.

just as Asaph led the choir of Gershonites, and Ethan, also called Jeduthun, led the choir of the Marathites.

On a happier note, the descendants of Korah found favor in God's eyes.

Seven generations after Korah died, the prophet Samuel arose from the line of Korah.

The Korahites later became doorkeepers and custodians for the tabernacle.

One group of Korahites joined King David in various military exploits and won the reputation of being expert warriors.
