I remember, uh, being, like, a younger kid who had beaten the game and could, like, tell the older kids he was hanging out with how to beat Bowser.

Um, and you know, power-ups and Koopa Kids.

Like, the game lit my imagination on fire, and, like, almost certainly is responsible for my, like, lifelong obsession with games.

Um, so, uh, again, it feels like a pretty straightforward, uh, choice, but Super Mario Bros. 3 is, is gonna be my first.

But obviously Mario Bros. 3 brought us so many different changes, including increases to the, uh, enemy rosters.

A weird little influence from Nintendo of America because of course, um, the Koopalings.

Mm-hmm.

Bowser's kids.

It did have more game that you could go play.

The Mario, when I was very disappointed that I was thinking like, okay, you're going to get to fight the Koopalings and it's going to be like, you know, there's going to be extra worlds, you know, that are going to get added to that.

Not just a Koopaling fight.

So Super Mario All-Stars Plus World on the Super Nintendo is easily the best bang for your buck that you can get on the Super Nintendo as far as platforms are concerned.

So if you have lived under a rock throughout your entire life, you wouldn't know that this whole series is about saving the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser and all of his Koopalings.

So in this particular combined cart, you get five games.

You get Mario 1, Mario 2, Mario 3.

The kids had a blast with it.

They went through all the Koopalings tonight.

I did start over on Cosmic Invasion.

I picked up the Switch 2 version.

Evil Iggy Koopa has created a device to switch the brains of the creatures in the mushroom worlds.

When he gives Yoshi the brain of a sinister Koopaling, Mario and Luigi jump into action.

With the help of Dr. Sigmund Shrinkasaurus, they try to stop Iggy before all of their friends in Dinosaur Land lose their heads.

As in all the adventure books, you control the action.

Then one day, Bowser and the Koopalings moved in, stole the 12 magic gems, and kidnapped both the king and the prince.

The earthquake that resulted from the theft of the jewels split the kingdom into two parts, the light realm and the dark realm." Koopas held King Fret captive in the Light Realm and Prince Pine prisoner in the Dark Realm.

So I thought about picking that.

I also thought about the boss music from Mario 3 when you're finally fighting the Koopalings and whatnot.

uh the doom doom doom doom and then it does its yeah uh so i thought about various things like that but the and then for street fire i thought about almost every single character thing

every piece from street fire is good i wish i'd have thought of street fighter i might have grabbed balrog or something but yeah

and yet he removed that when you rescue princess peach however this state of affairs shifted over time yeah as koopa changed from a momentary imbalance to a persistent one in mario 3 he terrorized the much larger mushroom kingdom so it was just like these eight linear levels now all of a sudden it's all these grand worlds right yeah with their own kings and peach is somehow on top of all of them in mario 3 um mario uh restored order to the kingdom peach was no longer required to restore order mario did it as he defeated the koopalings koopa's motherless children

But for real, my favorite

characters, I think, in all the Mario series are the Koopalings.

They're also, they're on my shelf of figurines over there.

I've got three different versions.

No, he's separate from them.

I think maybe Wii, Mario Wii, they might appear together, but otherwise they generally get their own games.

The Koopalings have returned a few times.
