And so at what point did the industry realize there needed to be a new model where you separate the design and the manufacturing, right? Why couldn't we just manufacture in the US to begin with?

Well, I consider that was just kind of a timing.

Everything kind of goes naturally.

I don't think it's anybody's design to make it happen.

Semiconductor industry used to be so-called IDM model, because the company designed their own product, they have their own market, and they do a manufacturing by themselves.

Before I was in school, I even heard a company actually make equipment, like Hewlett Packard actually making some equipment.

So IDM is a natural model for any new industry to start.

What kind of was the personal pull for you to come back to Taiwan and also continue to build your career here as an engineer?
