Komodo dragon

Uh-oh.

Is it pronounced Komodo dragon? Do you know what that is?

Komodo dragon?

Komodo dragon.

You know what that is?

It's like a big lizard.

What's on your mind?

Good morning.

We did it.

And the Komodos and the smarter reptiles

that we've defeated.

I feel like we basically came out on top.

Her dark skin fades into this yellow-green and is covered in scales.

Her features soften to that of something almost Komodo Dragon-esque as she growls and stands up, a tail lashing behind her, and she runs like hell into one of the buildings.

And I think we're done there for today.

Oh,

In Empire Year 956, Tsukuri Repidimus contacted Aoa to use the Bok Globule Jormunfa Antramo as a power source for the new gate for the starboard side of the systems.

Repidimus contacted the Komodo Dragon Counselor Wosiwa Oboka of the Sleesak Alliance to help broker this agreement with the Semitron Republic.

Obokar was a patron of the sciences, and was happy to help Repidimus, and he convinced the wary Tornis Block that this technology was not only safe, but that it would help the newly formed Sleesakalites.

Though Aeola helped, the design of the new gate and the structural engineering was largely done by Repidimus.

And this is who you're modeling yourself after? An obviously toxic and possibly corrupt detective?

They had tiptoed over to the elevator, but it was guarded by a giant Komodo dragon eating a pepperoni pizza.

Oh, yum.

I knew what city has such good vegan pepperoni.

Oh, wow.

Okay, I might just need to pause the story here for a minute.

Mr. Eric! We were coming up with a plan to defeat this Komodo Dragon Guard.

Oh, you know, I bet Alabaster Negative One would, like, cast a spell that, like, shot him out a window.

It's, no, they have the one, I forgot, uh, that you see them-

Oh, the Komodo dragon.

That giant thing.

The Komodo.

That, and, and it-

That's scary

Um, I- I'm not gonna waste time.

Uh, first thing that came to mind was the Komodo dragon.

The Komodo dragon is absolutely correct.

That's the one.

Nice.

And then of course it also went viral because of the involvement with Will, of him helping us collect some of those animals that, you know, I think there's some of the vitriol may have been driven b- by no small amount of jealousy.

Same thing with some of the intransigence against Komodo dragons having venom is the amount of press that I got for that discovery and whose...

You know, Attenborough commented on it.

I was featured in BBC Natural World.

[outro music][upbeat music] Today I am joined by Dr. Bryan Fry, professor at the University of Queensland, head of the Adaptive Biotoxicology Lab, and author of Venom Doc.

Uh, he discovered that Komodo dragons are venomous, won the Fenner Medal, and recently featured in Disney Plus' Pole to Pole alongside Will Smith.

Thanks for, uh, thanks for joining me.
