Knuckles' Chaotix

I can

play like Knuckles Chaotix.

I love that that's the platformer that you thought of first.

It's like kind of a perfect platformer because it's freed from like the tyranny of level design and it's just about the joy of movement.

Really?

Yeah.

What is Knuckles Chaotix on? The Sega 32X.

That is such a compelling recommendation, Crystal, that now I might have to try to play it.

Did they lose their minds?

Well, I'm pretty sure it's from that, but there's like a Chaotix detective song, which I think is from the murder of Sonic the Hedgehog.

And it's a big band jazzy number.

um so yes they did do that

Um, we've got Virtua Fighter Remix.

We've got Knuckles' Chaotix, the 32 X game.

Um, interesting game where you were held to, uh, an alligator by some sort of stretchy ring-based thing.

It was an interesting game mechanic, uh, one that, uh, probably didn't stand the test of time 'cause we didn't ever see that again.

And I would actually argue for them.

That it actually makes perfect sense because this game is, in my opinion, inspired by Knuckles Chaotix, but whatever.

More controversially, it inspired to bring back Shadow the Hedgehog, which completely undid the dramatic emotional sacrifice in the end of Sonic Adventure 2, which we did a podcast on too, and we gushed about the story.

Simply because of the explosive popularity with Western audiences made him a lucrative IP.

Basically, and I've said this before, I think every Sonic character on their own... are stronger than any Sonic copycat game that came out throughout the 90s and 2000s.

All these attempts to make their own Sonic, these other companies.

Meanwhile, Sonic Team's like, yeah, we made Tails, we made Knuckles, we made Blaze, we made the Chaotix.

Like, all of those character designs and their powers are cooler than just about every KO the Kangaroo and Bug and Bubsy and, you know, the list goes on.
