Kiyotaka Oshiyama

I had not seen...

the picture at all um for some uh production background um we did talk about this somewhat recently uh in connection to flip flappers because it is directed by our guy uh kiyotaka oshiyama who directed flip flappers as well uh this is done by his um studio studio durian um which i think he formed a couple years after flip flappers i want to say um this is their biggest work to date um they've done a couple of like short animations some commercial work um i talked about when we did flip flappers the most recent thing they've put out is i believe it's called red memory which is like a short film about uh oshiyama's like hometown um to kind of promote the town or whatever but also like to you know like kind of like in Not in memoriam, but like a time capsule type of thing, which I found was really, really good.

Also worth pointing out, Oshiyama is credited for the screenplay, character designs, animation direction, and as I feel like is well chronicled since the release of this movie, he did quite a lot of the key animation on this movie.

Certainly not a one-man project.

A lot of other talented people worked on this movie, but he definitely did a lot more work than a director of an anime film might typically do.

I think it's

I think it's extremely special.

I think they should give Oshiyama some sort of grant to be able to make whatever the fuck he wants and maybe not have to kill himself doing it in the process.
