I've been really blessed actually to work with a lot of great Kiwis, uh, who have done a, a really good job.

Um, the success we've enjoyed, um, was due to them, the failures are due to me.

So moho, kākāriki, rock cranes, when you get a big beach mast, you get plagues of rats and stoats coming out of the forest and going up onto the tops and gobbling up all the rock cranes.

Things like feel, roror, the great spot of kiwi.

All the kiwis, in fact, suffer from those plagues of stoats.

They take an absolute pasting, kākā are the same.

So our large-scale trapping in the back blocks is usually focused on things like fuel, which are in the rivers.

So we can run a line of traps or a couple of lines of traps up the rivers and that'll work for the fuel in the rivers, but it won't have much effect impact beyond that.

If you want to have a bigger impact on other birds, so if you want to protect your kiwis, your kākās and your kiwis, you have to do something more than just stick a few traps in the rivers.

Because that doesn't sound like a positive term.

Well, it is because they have a little thing there called the Kiwi.

It's like their national bird.

Because they exported a lot to New Zealand.
