And then it took me, and I had just got the all clear of my IIH and then that happened.

Kirsten SmithGUEST
So up until sort of 2022-ish, I... was just battling a lot of really illness behind the scenes, if you will, shared a bit of it, but not as much.

Kirsten SmithGUEST
So I look back now and I'm just, I don't really know how I actually managed to do that.

Kirsten SmithGUEST
But I think as women, we just push through, you know, I still had two kids at home at school and All the rest of it.

But, but what does the data show us? Has more money been flowing into renewable energy?

Kirsten SmithGUEST
Well, over the last decade we've seen more and more, uh, investment flow into low emissions power sources and renewable power sources every year.

Kirsten SmithGUEST
Uh, now that trend has been increasing to the point where we've seen, uh, in 2024, I believe we hit, uh, the highest we ha- level of investment that we had seen.

Kirsten SmithGUEST
We've now come down slightly in the past two years, but this has be- been because of a couple different factors less related to the actual deployment, but more the continued declining costs for some of these technologies, as well as some policy changes, uh, in some major markets, including China and the United States.

Kirsten SmithGUEST
So in 2026, we actually saw $665 billion continue to flow into the renewables investment globally, and solar, we actually saw a billion dollars a day, uh, of investment to deploy solar around the world.

Kirsten SmithGUEST
Um, we've continued to see the majority of power sector investment really flow into renewables with over 70% of investment in the power sector flowing into low emissions power sources.

Kirsten SmithGUEST
Uh, so we're really continuing, even though we've seen a little bit of a dip in the last two years in overall investment, we're continuing to see strong deployment of renewables in, uh, the energy system globally.

Dan HewittHOST
In lots of our podcasts we've spoken about the age of electricity, but what does the, the data show us? What does the data show us about how much money is being spent, not only on electrification, but on the infrastructure that surrounds this, for example, grids and batteries?
