You know, not rush into applying for a job, but March before I graduated, I was lambing and I saw a job advert pop up for Galloway Vets and that's in Kirkcudbright.

I applied for it and was lucky enough to get the job there and that's where I'm still working now.

but you know throughout your university career you're spending your summers gaining experience on farms initially you know stables things like that in your first couple of years and then vet practices in your last three years trying to get that clinical experience because obviously doing something like that at university they can try and expose you to lots of different scenarios but when you're actually out there that's when you learn the most really.

So by the young age of 21, he had his own command, but by 25, he was in serious trouble.

In 1770, off Tobago, he flogged the ship's carpenter for neglect of duty, a man named Mungo Maxwell, who was from a respectable Kirkcudbright family.

For those of you who don't know what Cairnholy is, I've actually done a video about Cairnholy, It is a Neolithic site just up the coast from Newton Stewart, or between Newton Stewart and Kirkcudbright, to give you the sort of closest larger towns.

It has been used as a ceremonial site and it has been used as a burial cairn since 4000 BC.

High up among the heather-clad hills which formed a broad dividing barrier between England and Scotland, the little river Esk brawls and bickers over its stony bed through a wild land of barren braesides and brown peat mosses, forming altogether some of the gloomiest and most forbidding scenery in the whole expanse of northern Britain.

Almost the entire bulk of the counties of Dumfries, Kirkcudbright, and Ayr is composed of just such solemn, desolate upland wolds, with only a few stray farms or solitary cottages sprinkled at wide distances over their bare, bleak surface, and with scarcely any sign of life in any part save the little villages which cluster here and there at long intervals around some stern and simple Scottish church.

Yet the hardy people who inhabit this wild and chilly moorland country may well be considered to rank among the best raw material of society in the whole of Britain, for from the peasant homes of these southern Scotch Highlands have come forth, among a host of scarcely less distinguished natives, three men at least who deserve to take their place in the very front line of British thinkers or workers, Thomas Telford, Robert Burns, and Thomas Carlyle.

By origin, all three alike belong in the very strictest sense to the working classes, and the story of each is full of lessons and of warnings for every one of us.

So if you do play the 18, the second nine is often a lot different from the first nine because you know a little bit more about what's over the hill, what's around the corner.

so yeah it's a really worthwhile little course and it's honesty box so you only pay i can't remember what the green fee is they're actually 35 40 pounds maybe not even that and stick it in the honesty box and you can go around so it really is a fun course a bit of a bargain that that kind of might only be 20 or 30 quid to be honest so yeah really nice little course If you're in that area, we didn't play them this time round, but in my youth, I played many a round of Kirkcudbright has got a golf course.

Kirkcudbright is a lovely little town to stay in.

You've also got Newton Stewart, another really up and down course, quite a hilly one as well.
