They've gone to the stage now that they believe they're going to win the whole time.
Cyril FarrellPANELIST
50:02
They were very lucky against Kinvara, got a goal, you could say, in the last minute or the last poke, you know, to win the game, but yet they won it.
Cyril FarrellPANELIST
50:08
And Kinvara didn't, or a wide relegation, like, you know, there's a tight, very tight margins in the team, but definitely, since their win, like, okay, they're disappointed not to come up senior, but they still want the itch or the will.
Cyril FarrellPANELIST
50:19
Yeah.
Cyril FarrellPANELIST
50:20
is still there to come up they still believe that they're senior and as Joe said if they do get up you'll find that they'll hold their own because they're always battle hardened

Niall CanavanHOST
69:49
And when you look through their team, they have a lot of really, really good hurlers.
Niall CanavanHOST
69:52
that have played for Galway a lot of them at various different levels and Shane Caulfield is obviously an experienced campaigner the two Martins are pretty experienced at this stage they have a good goalkeeper in Shane Murray you know Daniel Kane is very good you mentioned Oscar O'Gorman like I think he had an injury a couple of years ago as well that kept him out for a year you'd hope that it wouldn't be a serious injury for him because he's a fine campaigner as well, a guy who played at centre-back for Galway at minor level, Yvain McGlynn obviously, Stephen Kane is a very prominent young player, Owen Mulledy, another guy we didn't mention, they have a core of really, really good players, so they have, and they're going to take beating this year's championship, and they would have been one of the favourites coming into the championship, as would a Hascofona, probably just hasn't happened for a Hascofona this year, you know they played Kinvara in the first match won that but since then it's been three defeats for them and they'll be disappointed with that probably last year's final in hindsight I don't know maybe it took is there a hangover it probably is it's a difficult thing when you lose a final like that you know you saw Kinvara as well this year struggled a small bit in the sense that they got to a final last year as well and had got to win the year previous to that as well so yeah It's hard to regroup After losing the final
Sean WalshHOST
71:05
Plus this new structure Of this Premier Intermediate We keep saying Week in week out Like there isn't There isn't There isn't even a hint Of an easy game They're all hugely competitive You have to be on it like Forever again It's a fantastic competition
David ConnorsGUEST
71:16
And like you're looking At all these teams there And you're kind of Just look at who's left And you're saying Any one of them Could go on a bit of a run If they happen to win Galway There's a potential there, there's a door there to potentially make Croke Park, everything going well.
Eoghan LanganCORRESPONDENT
34:40
Eoghan Langan, Goibhe FM.
Sean CarleyHOST
34:42
And it's back to Eoghan for Kinvara versus Pádraig Peirces.
Eoghan LanganCORRESPONDENT
34:45
Kinvara have beaten Pádraig Peirces 126-117 here in Loughrae, meaning Kinvara will play Intermediate Hurling again next year, but Pádraig Peirces will have to face Ba in a relegation decider.
Eoghan LanganCORRESPONDENT
34:55
Pádraig Peirces open the scoring with Kinvara responding straight away with a Luka Dandju point.
Eoghan LanganCORRESPONDENT
34:59
Peirces would get the next three scores in a row though to take an early lead.
Eoghan LanganCORRESPONDENT
35:03
Kinvara responded with five of their own, however including another fantastic Luka Dandju score, to leave them six points to four up after 12 minutes.
Eoghan LanganCORRESPONDENT
35:11
Park Pierces got the next two scores with points from Jonah Donlan and Dean Riley, but Kinvara then got the next four to lead 10 points to 6.
Eoghan LanganCORRESPONDENT
35:18
The sides traded scores for the rest of the half, with Pierces never managing to take the lead though, and it was 13 points to 11 at half-time.
Dennis James RyanGUEST
29:08
Yeah, yeah.
Dennis James RyanGUEST
29:08
I did a four year training in Kinvara in Galway.
Laura O'MahonyHOST
29:12
Oh, lovely.
Laura O'MahonyHOST
29:13
Oh yeah, you do have a kind of a nice Galway vibe as well.
Kevin BradyGUEST
4:42
I was demoted or promoted, whatever you want to call it, from midfield back to cornerback.
Kevin BradyGUEST
4:48
They put me wing back or cornerback in a challenge game and I'd mopped up a world of balls so they left me in there and, you know, I had a good championship in it and I was the captain and Aidan Connolly was beside me and So we played Kinvara and I took the bait, like, you know, I was being haggled in my ear and different things, Conor Cavanaugh, you know, and he's a great fella, I have great time for Cavanaugh.
Kevin BradyGUEST
5:12
You know, I just let fire, you know, more than once and I got my marching orders and, you know, I felt that day I let the team down shocks and, you know, if I had my time back again, I'd probably do the same again.
Kevin BradyGUEST
5:23
But it's, it's, it's championship, you know, we never got to too many knockout games and I used to, you know, I used to you dream about it, you know, county final days and all that kind of stuff.

55 MINS LATER

PaulHOST
60:32
Chunky Hayes going back to manage against his own club.
PaulHOST
60:37
This will get so interesting.
PaulHOST
60:40
dynamic to this one Rahun Newcastle I think they showed remarkable spirit the last day to dig out that win against Port Pierce's and in fairness you call this throughout the year but I think Portumna's dismantling of Kinvara too shows that they're going to be contenders in this championship too
Kevin BradyGUEST
61:02
Yeah absolutely it's going to be going to be tough all day for Chunky now in all fairness you know what a legend for Portumna and Galway as well probably one of the probably one of the best club hurlers in the top 15 club hurlers of Galway over the last 25 years that's the truth he's given it all and he's you can see he's bringing that whole steel as well into Rahun I fancy Rahun with the last few years you know and they're just disappointed and disappointed and I actually thought the poor Tumnus struggled this year but they've gone the other way they just demoralised who are you know nearly favourites for this intermediate I think a revelation was Joe gone back number six.
Niall CanavanHOST
1:09
A couple of local derbies there as well.
Niall CanavanHOST
1:11
And in the relegation for the Intermediate as well, there are big games between Behan, Karen Moore and Porrick, Pearce and Kinvara.
Niall CanavanHOST
1:15
So a lot of hurling to look forward to over the next few weeks.
Niall CanavanHOST
1:19
And, you know, when you look at the four Senior Preliminary Quarterfinals, I suppose Loughrae-Castlegare is a standout game in the sense that they played, was it two years ago at the quarterfinal stage or whatever? And it took a late goal from Anthony Burns, I think, to win that game after getting a pass from Darren Jocknessy.

46 MINS LATER

Niall CanavanHOST
47:46
You know, started with the win over Canvera, wasn't it? And then, you know, disappointed in their games against Portumna and Milik Erkort after that.
Niall CanavanHOST
47:55
And while they did score an awful lot in those games, you know, they conceded.
Niall CanavanHOST
47:59
quite a lot as well you know they scored 123 against Munich Aircourt they scored 29 points against Portumna but lost those two games like they only I say they only scored 217 then against Kinvara which was a lot lower than those and won that game so you know they'd have a lot to work on and It's probably very hard for them in the sense that they lost last year's Senior B final.
Niall CanavanHOST
48:21
Seth Lowe
PaulHOST
53:19
Stephen Kane getting their first goal and then goals from Shane Caulfield and Sean Connachton.
PaulHOST
53:27
setting the tone for Kilkennyron to go on and win by 12 points they won the under 20 A1 as well last night defeating Kinvara but for Kilkennyron I suppose they'll have to be pleased they've got things back on track after an opening round defeat this Gabellu now to go and win their last two games I suppose gets things back on track for them
Cathal O'ByrneGUEST
53:50
Yeah, 100%, like, yeah.
Cathal O'ByrneGUEST
53:53
See, that's the thing, like, so, you know, if you get into the habit of losing a couple of games, like, and then, say, starting off the year, obviously, they were trying to set things right from the start of the year and coming up against a really good Gahanna team, like, they're, like... like that's the thing like you know the wheels can't just come off the cart with it like you know and it didn't for them in all fairness I'm like you know they came back with
Cathal O'ByrneGUEST
58:41
Yeah, 100%, like, look, when we were looking at a Haskell, like, you know, you can obviously look at their two biggest names in Park and Kyle Manion, like, and we had to try and, like, look, you're never going to nullify hurlers of their quality, but just if you could, if you could limit it, like, you know, and that's what we set out to do, but Lou Kennedy, yeah.
Cathal O'ByrneGUEST
59:01
inside kind of played a bit of a rotating role inside and in a half forward line as well and was really good like really effective has a good left hand in him there and caught a few very high balls as well like you know and just looked like he was really direct like you know so he's definitely a hurler I'd be looking at now again and seeing what way he kind of progresses like you know because he's all there like you know he's able to shoot from wider angles as well like so it's good like you know
PaulHOST
59:28
Epic Portumna getting over the other game then against Kinvara.
PaulHOST
59:33
Goals at the weekend from Declan McLaughlin, Irla Kelly and another goal from Ronan O'Mara for Portumna.
