King Henry V of England

Shout out to Kenneth Branagh, who is best known, I think, as a director nowadays, but of course he was a Shakespearean actor back in the day and well known as a serious artist.

And I remember when I was a kid going to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and walking around the back and seeing him in his Henry V costume having a smoke at the interval.

Really? and our eyes met our eyes met Mark and I'm pretty sure he would remember that at the moment as well lucky he wasn't standing there

on his cell phone or something you know

Henry V not in 1980 but he's a terrific actor and this is a chance for him to carry a film which he hasn't had uh an opportunity to do for a long time uh he's been playing uh poirot i think uh and and heavily moustached now he's in under a big russian beard and it's a wonderful performance because it's a kind of like a cross between john goodman and robin williams if that's if you can picture that He's got a kind of manic energy to him as well.

And he reminded me of a Robin Williams film from the 80s called Moscow on the Hudson, where he played a Russian who defected in New York.

And so there's a kind of a charming aspect to him.

Whittington was made Sheriff of London first and later Lord Mayor three times.

King Henry V, out of respect for his good character, later knighted him Sir Richard Whittington.

In the 1920s, though, he was still very much the louche party boy.

And once we get into the 1930s and his father, George's health begins to decline, people start asking the question, you know, is he going to do a Henry V? Is he going to settle down when he becomes king? Is he going to grow up and turn his back on these youthful playboy, wastrel pursuits and knuckle down to the business of being king? And as we've looked at earlier, he didn't really.

He liked the idea of being king, but he didn't like the day-to-day business of what that entailed.

And by this time, he had also started his affair with Wallis Simpson.

Latin Christianity returned to the island of Sicily, and Palermo became the capital city.

Norman law did continue to be used in Normandy, especially when the barons and towns of Normandy forced the King of France to sign the Norman Charter in 1315, which aimed to reduce the encroachment of royal power, restricted the king's power to create taxes there, and made the judgments of Normandy's main court final.

He used Calais.

Anne, sister to the aforesaid fifth brethren by the earl, was married to Sir Henry Verney of Thonge, where she is buried in the college with her husband.

Margaret, daughter to the earl and sister to the aforesaid five brethren, was wife to Chaworth, a gentleman of Derbyshire.
