My first, I had a $10,000 grant that I received from Kind Snacks.

And then like the first, that was like, it's like a Google form type of application.

It wasn't really intensive, right? But it was still $10,000.

Lindsay is the founder of My Better Batch, a premium baking brand shaking up a category built on convenience.

She'd already sold a snack brand to Kind, so she knew the CPG world.

But this time, she did things differently.

She went retail first, redefined what premium means on a crowded shelf, and added more than 3,000 points of distribution in a single quarter.

How'd she pull it off? Let's get into it.

Lindsay, thanks so much for joining Retail Remix.

Let's start with your last snack brand, which you sold to Kind.

Tell me more about your background in CPG.

Daniel Lubetzky graduated from Stanford Law School, and then declined lucrative job offers to start his own business, only paying himself $24,000 a year for a decade.

But then he founded KIND and grew it into a snack brand that Mars later valued at $5 billion and went on to acquire.

Today, he invests full time on Shark Tank, and he's the son of a Holocaust survivor whose story has shaped everything Daniel has built.

During our conversation, we discuss the difference between a scarcity mindset and one of abundance.

Daniel shares a fascinating story about how he changed his mind about giving away product and how it changed everything for KIND.

Then he talks about the three must-have attributes in an entrepreneur he'll invest in on Shark Tank, and towards the end he gets really jacked up talking about the four C's of a builder's mindset.

what's fascinating arrow about kind and the brand kind is literally what you said a brand is a promise and a great brand is a promise well kept and we did that at kind we're very very consistent about delivering something that was tasty healthy and socially responsible but guess what the I didn't do that all along at the beginning.

The 10 years prior to launching Kind, I kept making mistake after mistake after mistake with my first company.

And I drew the lessons from those mistakes and from those errors.
