Kimpton Hotels

In the points and miles world, we hear about the same hotels again and again and again, and for good reason.

Andaz Papagayo, Grand Hyatt Kauai, Kimpton Seafire, they are all incredible.

But today we're talking about some other hotels on our radar that maybe we don't hear about as often.

Welcome to Points Talk.

One of the most requested topics we've gotten lately is to talk about some other hotel options outside of the ones that you hear us talk about all the time.

Today we're each sharing a few hotels that we have on our radar that aren't ones that you hear about quite as often.

Like, we talk about the Kimpton Seafire a lot.

We talk about the Park Hyatt Kyoto, or like Alex said in the intro, the Andaz Papagayo, Grand Hyatt Kauai, Hyatt Regency Maui.

They have actually-

The Kimpton.

The Kimpton, yeah, which is also great.

The Nine, which I don't think is part of anything, but that's a really nice hotel.

Yeah, that's nice.

Where else?

I'm trying to think.

The Kimpton.

Yeah.

Number two, we just finished the Kimpton Ara Hotel, which is right across the street.

Exactly.

And it's like if we could have ever picked a, the center of a Venn diagram of locations to record, this is it.

Since we did handle the concourse level renovation of Rockefeller Center and this new Kimpton, it felt like a pretty magic spot to try to do this in.

Yeah.

I wanted to highlight female founders that, uh, shared their stories on how they built their companies through grit.

And so, uh, I built a community of over, I think, 2,000 women come out and, you know, reached out to sponsors, d- people like, uh, Kimpton Hotels that sponsored about four or five events.

And then of course we had the pandemic, so that, that went quiet.

Um-

... what would you call it? Um, holiday envy, write these down because they're all killer properties and I've been to most of them.

Kimpton Hotel, Six Senses, Regent.

These are some of the best properties on the planet.

We use the Kimpton a lot.

Six Senses, you know, I was just talking to you about a property we're gonna use in the Caribbean.

I've been to the ones in Turkey.

... close to each other or they're very, y- you know, in very similar regions to each other.

So talk to me about that.

Okay.

Well, you know, I love a Kimpton.

Kimpton is our favorite brand for pets.

I'm not a pet person myself, but I just love how fancy Kimptons are.

And I was actually doing the calculation.

There's this Kimpton in Huntington Beach, it's right on PCH, and the cost to book it would basically be $350 for one night, and I could apply my anniversary free night certificate to that night, and that alone would cover it.

And then you throw in the food and beverage credits, you throw in the airline credit, which I'm definitely gonna use the airline credit.

I know that you have to book a $250 booking with the airline, but I'm like, is anyone booking-

It's like a scavenger hunt.

So what was the original Tokyo Hotel plan? How did you end up switching from the Kimpton to a Chase travel booking at the last minute? Which is s- maybe controversial, I don't know-

Yeah, so, you know, we had earned all of these IHG points through a sign-up bonus, and just in time to start booking our, our whole Japan itinerary.

And so we, uh, booked the Kimpton Tokyo Shinjuku.
