I would love to be reading more new plays by people I don't know.

I get sent some plays, like Kimberly Bellflower has a new play, so I'm going to work on her new play.

But I'm always trying to get them.

But a great new play is hard to find.

How has that been to create something that was a specific kind of medium and transfer it? Does it feel like that is a different creation or are you leaving it up to the people who know the TV and film landscape and trust it and be like, okay, this is still what I give, what we give, what we know it is.

And now you're a new collaborator into the mix for the medium, but it doesn't necessarily change the alchemy of the piece.

Well, Kimberly Bellflower is writing the screenplay and she just turned in a draft where I'm like, wow, you wrote a movie and it's amazing.

And then I'll say this for directors and writers, but Kimberly went to bat for me to be the director of this film.

Lincoln Center has some really good stuff.

Kimberly Bellflower has a new play there, Donya Taymor.

And I was obsessed with John Proctor.

I saw it like seven times.

I mean, so the main thing is, if we look at the list this year, it's a thrilling list of people to be on.

The most produced play is John Proctor is the Villain by the wonderful Kimberly Bellflower, also a Georgia writer like me.

Hell yeah.

um i got to see it over here in london at the royal court and it was thrilling the audience was alive for it gasping laughing um and as is the trend among and i think part of why this play is so successful and urgent in this moment is the audience was so young and so into it and that is when have you heard that last So congratulations, Kimberly.

American Theater Magazine's list of the most produced plays of the upcoming season has just been released.

Top of the list is John Proctor Is the Villain, Kimberly Bellflower's look at teenagers and the response to Arthur Miller's The Crucible.

Twenty professional theaters across the country will be producing John Proctor, which was a hit on Broadway in 2025.
