The death of baby Peter, Peter Connolly in 2007, struck me personally probably hardest of all.

My first baby was in her cot and I would hold her a lot closer as a result of my extensive reading about what baby Peter endured.

17-month-old Peter Connolly, known as Baby P, suffered more than 50 distinct injuries over several months of severe physical abuse before his death in August 2007.

It's hard to read and write about even to this day.

He was described as a responsive, bright little boy who showed normal development.

Although professionals saw a distinct deterioration in him, it was the domestic abuse he was exposed to intensified.

Baby Peter's case demonstrated that despite the reforms following Victoria ClinBA, serious weaknesses remained.

But was it their good intentions that saved the people? No.

Now, children like Nkano Adichie, Baby P, and Victoria Klimbe were victims of incompetent healthcare, domestic services failure, and response disappointments.

I ask you, Will character save them? No.

Did character save them? No.

Mm.

And particularly Baby P, we'll come to that.

Which was so tragic.
