Killin' Time

Now, we gotta start with a reminder of just how massive Billy Ray was leading into 1993.

His debut single, Achy Breaky Heart, dropped in 1992.

It exploded.

It was everywhere.

The title itself felt like a message to the critics.

"I'm not done yet." And it was true.

The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, proving the fans were still in with Billy Ray.

It went platinum, selling over a million copies.

He had so many great songs, and we're gonna do Clint Black, 'cause 1990 was a monster year for him.

Now, Clint had already kinda burst onto the scene with his album Killin' Time in 1989, and it wasn't just a good debut album, it was a game changer.

Hit after hit after hit, right out of the gate.

He was everywhere.

Now, he was born in New Jersey, but he grew up in Texas, so he was a Texas guy.

It's where he really soaked up country music.

And when Killin' Time dropped, it was like that dude from Texas just put out something kinda revolutionary.
