Kill the Moonlight

There's a bunch, they're all like older, they're all newer ones.

I guess it's Hot Thoughts from 2017, Gimme Fiction from 2005, Lucifer on the Sofa from 2022, Kill the Moonlight from 2002, Gaga Gaga in 2007, and They Want My Soul of 2014. um we're just getting started with spoon i guess if we're going to be covering a lot more spoon so uh this did not make rolling stones list and spoon is ranked at us even 200 of overall artist rankings on best ever albums

they're often uh given the most one of the most consistent like indie rock bands around in terms of their output uh so yeah they are they were formed in austin texas in october of 1993 by lead vocalist guitarist brit daniel and drummer jim eno they they are the only two um original members that are still still with the band uh other other cast there's been some long long um Standing members, but not at this point when Spoon was out.

Do you guys remember where Spoon got their name from by chance?

On Girls Can Tell primarily we got Britt Daniel on vocals, guitars, and keyboards, Jim Eno on drums, Joshua Zarbo on bass, and Mike McCarthy producing with help from both Britt and Jim.

And this arrangement will hold for the next couple great Spoon records, including 2002's Kill the Moonlight, which includes the first modest hit that makes Spoon kind of a big deal in a not-at-all cheesy kind of way.

We get high in back seats of cars.

We break into mobile homes.

Rock critics dig Spoon.

Man, I don't know why.

What strikes me about this record, Kill the Moonlight, is that immediately upon achieving a modest but durable sort of indie rock and roll prominence, Spoon immediately start deconstructing the very notion of rock and roll.

My favorite parts of this record are the studio patter, the weird crosstalk, the peek behind the curtain, the sense that Kill the Moonlight is, like, 85% finished, but it's the unfinished 15% that makes the whole record.
