Kiersten White

Um, so it's the WNUF Halloween Special, especially great this time of year.

Uh, I'm gonna recommend a novel called Hide by Kiersten White.

So a group is challenged to spend a week hiding in an abandoned amusement park and not get caught, so a game of hide and seek with a cash prize at the end and a spooky twist, unlike this creepy abandoned amusement park.

But as the people around our main character begin disappearing one by one, she realizes that this is less of a competition and more of a human sacrifice.

Let's move from the deep woods of Arkansas over to the small isolated towns of Idaho.

The next book is Something Is Killing the Children: Hope Is a Knife by James Tynion IV and Kirsten White.

Oh, the Slaughterverse.

Yes.

In prose, you lose all of that visual immediacy.

The author has to rely entirely on the reader's imagination to construct the terror using only words.

Bringing in Kirsten White, who is a phenomenal established horror writer in her own right, to co-write with Tynion was a very strategic move to ensure the prose carries the same emotional and visceral impact as the original art.

So in this prequel novel, monster hunter Erika Slaughter travels to a small Idaho town to investigate the brutal murder of a 12-year-old girl.

Uh, there's, uh, Forbidden Planet is holding a stacked, uh, signing event in New York.

It's having Charles Soule, Chris Kempshall, Ethan Sacks, Delilah S. Dawson, Christian Baber, Will Sliney, uh, Kirsten White, and Adam Lance Garcia, uh, all in one house, so definitely check that out.

Uh, obviously, again, we will be staying tuned for all of the panels.

Um, and, um, we'll, we will, you know, catch y'all up next week in a fun special episode with all the news.

Exactly.

Which brings us to Kirsten White's Hide, which is 240 pages.

This one plays with a very high stakes, almost game show like premise.

I love this concept.

To be clear, it takes place before Andor, but it fits really well tonally with that.

I also read Hiding from the Dark, the new junior or YA, whatever you want to call it, horror novel by Kirsten White.

I really liked it.

I don't think we're going to have a review for that just because it didn't happen.
