Kids on Bikes

Hello, you absolute weapons.

Welcome back to Bards of New York, the actual play D&D stream, where sometimes we actually play D&D, but for the next 10-ish weeks we're not playing D&D, we are playing Gilded Thrones, which are mechanics from Good Society, mechanics from Kids on Bikes, and mechanics from My Noggin.

We call it Gilded Thrones.

We love it.

But I did get to play Shady Spines today, and that was fantastic.

Today I chose the lounge singer, which is the kind of entertainer, because if you know the roots, it was originally Kids on Bikes.

like a twist on Kids on Bikes.

Yeah, it's a little bit of a twist on Kids on Bikes because basically you roll, everybody starts with a D4 in all your skills.

If you get a four, it blows up and you then roll D6s from then on out.

So it was really interesting because the crowd would be shouting like, ah, you're going to get it this time or whatever.

In other systems, if you look at like a Kids on Broom and Kids on Bikes, they've released separate books to take a system and kind of run it in different directions.

Where Daggerheart is just like, no, you can do all these things right here.

And they're giving it to us with just so many pages of inspiration.

I think the best beginner TTRPG is Kids on Bikes.

I think either kids on bikes or monster of the week, because they give you all the things already on the page.

You don't have to look at anything else.
