Khalil Kain

Reggie Hayes, who plays William Dent.

And we've got Khalil Kain, our boo, who plays Darnell Wilkes, who is Maya's husband, and in the first season of Girlfriends, this character was actually played by Flex Alexander.

Then we've got the incomparable, unforgettable Jenifer Lewis, who plays Toni's mom, Verretta Childs, and the late great Angie Stone on our theme song.

If you, Sakinah, had to choose a character that you were most aligned with, 'cause I know who mine is, but I wanna ask you first, who do you feel most in touch with? So we got Toni, we got Joan, we got Maya, and we got Lynn.

Well, we return to the present day, and we meet our main kinda friend group and slash siblings, but the group of characters.

And we have Patrick, who is played by Khalil Kain, who was also in Juice in one of my favorite pieces of that film.

We also meet Tia, who is played by Catherine Isabelle, and Patrick's stepsister.

They are part of a mixed family, which I feel like kinda comes up this whole subtext of kinda like mixing race and things like that, which we'll- I'll get into maybe a little bit more later.
