Tobin LopezHOST
0:45
... fun sounds to hear.
Tobin LopezHOST
0:47
Uh, we are gonna be talking about probably the biggest news in KeyForge since, uh, the news of Ghost Galaxy taking over from Fantasy Flight Games.
Tobin LopezHOST
0:59
Would you agree with that?
Jason WallaceHOST
1:01
I would...
Tobin LopezHOST
1:54
I was like, "Huh? Okay." Now-
Jason WallaceHOST
1:57
Yeah, it was definitely unexpected.
Jason WallaceHOST
1:59
I think Riku came on to different servers as Yellow King and did, like, a preview spoiler thing, but, like, then the, the, the news dropped, it was like, "Oh my God." Like, what? What?
Tobin LopezHOST
2:12
Yep.
AJ BrandenHOST
11:57
Now, am I misremembering or am I remembering correctly that the cards themselves, were those algorithmically generated or was it just the combination of them?
Christian KudahlGUEST
12:05
The cards were generated by hand, at least in the earlier sets This me not being an expert on KeyForge, but from how I remember, and I think in the later set they expe- experimented more with like inside a deck you could have one card which is a bit buffed compared to what it normally is, and another which is like a bit slower or something.
AJ BrandenHOST
12:25
Right.
Christian KudahlGUEST
12:25
And so they did venture into that, but from the onset it was like handcrafted cards but, uh, procedurally generated decks.
AJ BrandenHOST
12:51
Speaking of, do, do you wanna start with your game, and we can, uh, talk about what the journey was and how that one started?
Jon PerryGUEST
12:58
Sure.
Jon PerryGUEST
12:59
Um, so our game is called Oddball, and, uh, I'm glad we kinda like set the table with KeyForge because one way to sort of explain what our game is doing is it's like one step beyond KeyForge, right? KeyForge has, as Christian explained, like randomized decks but handcrafted cards.
Jon PerryGUEST
13:18
We're actually randomizing at the card level, so every single card in the game will be unique in the world in that it will only be printed once.

LiamHOST

Life is happening.
SydneyHOST
0:22
Yeah, it sure is.
LiamHOST
0:23
Keyforge is taking a back seat, but it is time for Keyforge to take the front seat today.
SydneyHOST
0:28
I couldn't agree more.
TreyHOST
26:27
It's on the boat.
TreyHOST
26:29
And that was so that it was a business decision by the guy that runs – and I think he's the guy that owns the company that makes Keyforge now because they sold FFG to Asmodee.
TreyHOST
26:39
But anyway, one of his – he had a lot of – I don't remember them off the top of my head, but he had a number of business decisions and ways that he wanted to run his business that I was just scratching my head at, and one of them was – We don't tell people when games come out.
TreyHOST
26:51
We create anticipation by saying it's going to be out around this time.
BarryHOST
32:18
um well just a quick one on mansions of madness um an update i posted on the discord earlier a new scenario coming next month uh so this is the second new scenario from ffg for mansions of madness second edition um after you know years of radio silence from them i can only assume that they've got somebody that knows how to work the scenario generator software now um and they've been working on it because i think For people who don't know, FFG got hacked at some point and lost a lot of their algorithm stuff.
BarryHOST
32:55
Apparently stuff for Keyforge went missing, but I believe they were affected more widely.
BarryHOST
33:01
And at that point, and since then we've had no Mansions of Madness content, there is a fan...
BarryHOST
33:08
What's the word I'm after here? Program that you can use to make scenarios, but it's awful.

SydneyHOST
57:16
Oh my gosh, I loved it so much.
SydneyHOST
57:18
Like literally seeing them in person and getting to chat with them about, especially like Alliance, but like also in general, just like who they are and what they do and like how they live their lives.
SydneyHOST
57:28
And like they're people that like I know online and I basically only know them from Keyforge and like I love human beings and people and hanging out and being social and getting to know them was so amazing.
SydneyHOST
57:37
I cannot wait.
Jamey StegmaierHOST
25:18
So that's Mindbug.
Jamey StegmaierHOST
25:19
And the last example, I think one of the most clever resource systems I've ever seen in a game, and it isn't even exactly a resource system, but this is Keyforge.
Jamey StegmaierHOST
25:28
In Keyforge, in every deck in Keyforge, you have three different factions of cards.
Jamey StegmaierHOST
25:32
And this hand here is a good example.
Jamey StegmaierHOST
25:33
You have three different factions shown here.
Jamey StegmaierHOST
26:05
But do I want to play all of them? Is that information that I want you to have right now? And if I play all three of them, it means that my hand, most likely in the next turn, is going to be filled with different icons.
Jamey StegmaierHOST
26:16
So it means that on my next turn, I'll have to choose, okay, do I want to play, do I want to choose a different faction and put those cards into play? Or do I want to use the cards that I have in play that I played the previous turn of this egg faction? Because you only choose one faction per turn.
Jamey StegmaierHOST
26:32
I think it's such a clever system in Keyforge.
Pete WissingerHOST
19:45
Yeah.
Brendan HansonHOST
19:46
I have one that I can jump in with, which is, so KeyForge is the Richard Garfield game where you have decks with three different suits, um, and the hand management of it, the, the way that the energy system, there isn't really one.
Brendan HansonHOST
19:58
It's just like on your turn declare one of those suits and you can play as many cards of that suit as you want.
Brendan HansonHOST
20:03
The game calls them houses.
