Kew Gardens

I think I think that's one of the most um empowering moment there's not I mean I don't have many moments in my life where I just my body my mind switched and went I am doing this yeah and actually it all it was was a mental shift it wasn't anything other than a mental twig and that's what happened to me at Kew Gardens on the morning like I survived I say survived I was kind of you you just you've You were on the emotional rollercoaster.

And on the morning, I just remember on the morning going, nah, this is happening.

And it was like a dream brief because the garden was inspired by different elements of these royal palaces.

And there was a kind of pavilion structure, which was made from bent wood, which was inspired by one of my favourite painted rooms, which is called the Picnic Room, which is at Queen Charlotte's Cottage in Kew Palace, in Kew Gardens.

And... we painted the underside in the same way or similar way as the original room had been painted which has these climbing morning glory and um and nasturtium and then we were incorporating like um flowers from the planting scheme of the garden for the flower show but what was so memorable about it was you know i'm obviously really used to working on building sites but this was a whole different experience with literally plants being like plants around your feet as you go and actually in the two days that we were there doing it the weather was crazy there was there was like horizontal rain there was thunder and lightning and we were like in our high boots and hard hats and and it was kind of it was a bit like working in film again I sort of I think I thrive on slightly mad situations like that because you kind of I don't know it's like you feel so invigorated by like you can against all odds you can create something really delicate and beautiful um yeah I definitely won't forget that okay

Places like Kew Gardens are really nice.

Yeah, the hottest temperatures are always Heathrow.

Jesus, you'd think Q would be cooler given all the trees.

It's going to be a rough one for poor Kelly.

You're in line at Kew Gardens and you're like, is that the corpse flower? No, it's that little old lady sitting in front of me.

Yeah.

But aside from that, one of the, I suppose, proper garden, or gardens, should I say, was Kew Gardens.

We always used to go, obviously it's not my garden, but we always used to go.

It would suit you, actually.

Yeah, for sure.

And just for me, I mean, it's an incredible space.

Anyone who's obviously been to Kew Gardens will know it's stunning.

It's amazing.

The amazing colours of the trees, the bounty of fruits and harvest, Will we continue to have harvest festivals? It's always been in storytelling a traditional joke that English summers are full of rain showers.

Where I live, near Kew Gardens in London, we have had no rain for weeks.

There was fantastic double irony this week.

in that a major water main burst because the earth around it had become so dried out that the ground had shifted and fractured the pipe going back to the keats autumn is going to no longer be a season of mists and mellow fruitfulness For once we are just going to want it to rain and rain as much as possible to try and top up reservoirs.
