First adapted for screen in 1956 in the middle of the 50s, Alien Invasion craze coincided with the McCarthy Red Scare period of the 50s and bland conformity was the social mandate.

It starred Kevin McCarthy and Carolyn Jones, likely better known to you as TV's Morticia Adams.

The original became one of the paranoid classics of the era with one of sci-fi and horror's most memorable endings.

I will say this is a movie that has a very noteworthy cast for a lot of different reasons.

Let's start from the top with Kevin McCarthy.

Hell yeah.

theater actor uh who hit it out of the park his very first at bat in 1951 he earned an oscar nomination for his film debut i did not even know this he played uh biff loman in death of the salesman in the the first film version so had no idea but that led to him to star in a run of tv and movie projects i think he became a genre icon and with 1956's uh invasion of the Body Snatchers, a movie that, shockingly, is still kind of relevant.

It's like, oh, wow, he met Weird Al.

That's amazing.

He passed away in 2010, but I always really liked Kevin McCarthy.

I'm glad that he had this little run.
