In the Twin Cities, Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, on Sunday, their airport temperature was 90, which broke the old record by 5 degrees, and the latest on record to have a 90-degree day up in the Twin Cities, but that's all changing in just a little bit.

I always say I, I, I never wanna wish away summer and, you know, the nice weather and trade it for, you know, 17 degrees and snow, but I do want a little bit of fall here, and I think this weekend is actually going to be the perfect ... fall weekend.
Kevin LightyGUEST
11:37
You wanna go to those pumpkin patches, you wanna, you know, okay, maybe you don't want to, but maybe you get dragged there.
Kevin LightyGUEST
13:24
Uh, this is not one of those, well, it might hit, it might not.

Kevin Lighty in Champaign is a regular guest when we talk weather, as is Trent Ford, and he mentioned that hydrologists use October 1 to September 30 as their water year to define the period when we're typically at our driest for soils and streams.
DeLoss JahnkeHOST
13:48
He said, "If you go back for a six-month period between September 2025 and February '26, that was the driest six-month period on record in Bloomington normal, at only six and a half inches of precipitation." And then you look at southern Illinois saying that the last water year was four to 12 inches drier than normal, and the driest water year in almost 40 years in Carbondale going back to '86, '87.

I mean, you look at this forecast, for example, just this weekend, sunny and 60, sunny and 66 might be all right for a daytime food truck, but probably not a nighttime food truck when overnight lows will start making their way toward the 30s, and we're starting to run out of time here in food truck season, depending on how you wanna do it.

And we'll also talk weather with meteorologist Kevin Lighty out of Champaign.
DeLoss JahnkeHOST
26:25
How big of a change is coming? Like, we're going from overnight lows in the middle of the week at 59 to highs on the weekend, like Friday, around 59.
DeLoss JahnkeHOST
26:35
So quite, I mean, going from record highs at the start of the week to 30s for overnight lows at the end of the week.
