Kevin Kiermaier

I think we only have one out, but we've seen weird things happen in the game.

Sean Murphy hits a bullet, he boots it, uh, and then Kiermaier's able to come all the way around from first base and score, and that ties the game up.

And then you know, everybody knows what happens later on in the game.

So for me, that was the play of the series.

And that's why you never saw him win the gold glove in center field.

And it went to Kevin Kiermaier every year because Kevin Kiermaier was just a little bit better.

He was more efficient in his routes.

He was more efficient in his jumps.

And so that's why I have him number five on this list, but he can't be higher.

Um, number four on my list is, is Kevin Kiermaier.

Kevin Kiermaier is someone who I also view as an historically great defensive player.

If you think about baseball history and you zoom out some, Andre Jones and Willie Mays are the greatest center fielders of all time.

They're the two best defenders to ever canvas center field.

I say that definitively, and Kevin Kiermaier is not that.

But he might well be third.

Paul Blair is someone whom I've always considered the third best.

As I mentioned in the last segment about, you know, possible award winners or consideration for Rays players, I mean, there's also a slight chance that Taylor Walls gets more Gold Glove consideration.

It's crazy to think that the Rays haven't had a Gold Glove winner since 2019, when Kevin Kiermaier did it as a center fielder.

But my point is that Taylor Walls, while not flashy with the home runs like Junior Caminero, not flashy with the stolen bases like Chandler Simpson, he still makes an impact defensively, as we know.

And despite some of the shortcomings offensively, he's still been key in terms of the small ball offensive approach of the Rays.
