But it is a distraction that's worth taking the bait on because he's trying to distract from affordability, right? He's got his guys out there really borderline lying about the economy, economy.

Bessent and Hassett were borderline lying about inflation and what interest rates mean and why Warsh is doing what he's doing.

This is a good distraction.

How do you deal with the distractions off of what you just said, hey, people's main frustration, real people, regular think, is my wallet, the affordability thing is crushing me.

Now, a couple of things that I wanted to comment on.

Hopefully you saw my interview with Kevin Hassett, who is the administration's chief economic policy advisor.

So when I asked about relying on government data, like unemployment data from the Department of Labor and things like that, he was as skeptical as I am given their collection methods.

And when I asked him, what government data does he rely on? What does he think really has a high level of reliability? he actually pointed to this exact metrics, unemployment claims.

Barr described the economy as strong and the labor market as solid, but said inflation is not trending toward that 2% target fast enough.

Now speaking of the Fed, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett says there's still work to do to restore Fed independence, something he says is a high priority for Fed Chair Kevin Warsh.

He's managing an unusually partisan Fed, and, uh, that's a hard thing to do.

But, like, he could start with, uh, Barr and Jay not resigning.

Awful.

Awful." You know who else, uh, you know who else is from, uh, Greenfield? Kevin Hassett.

You know, the guy, one, one of, uh, Trump's guys, uh, one of his economic guys, the guy that's always got a big smile on his face when he's doing a live shot from outside the White House.

You know why he's got a big smile on his face? 'Cause he got out of Greenfield.

Man, I saw, I think it was Kevin Hassett.

I think he's one of like the financial advisors of the administration.

He was like, prices are high right now because of Biden.

And if he thinks he can walk away from Iran and inflation and degradation and what's happened to immigrants in this country, he won't be able to.

Well, um, speaking of what may fall in the category of a sort of hostage video [laughs] Sunday show appearance, um, Adam, I would like you to see Kevin Hassett appearing on Fox News earlier today.

I go to the grocery store every week, and, and I just noticed, as an example, that the hamburger for my barbecue yesterday was down $2 from, uh, a couple of weeks ago.

And so I'm seeing, uh, prices move in the right direction.

Now, when Trump came around the second time, he was able to effectively label himself a change agent, and he branded himself as somebody who was going to uproot the system and help young voters.

Well, we've seen the opposite.

Gas prices are up, uh, no matter what Kevin Hassett says.

Housing prices are skyrocketing.

But I'd sure like to know the answer to that.

Kevin Hassett will be along, the White House economist, and he's going to talk about the economy.

And I'm telling you, folks, we've got a great economy.

I love it when people like Karl Rove, who's nothing but a chicken shit, a George W. Bush hack, who claims, wow, that's the president gaslighting, saying the economy's good.

And that's what he's doing.

So I defy anybody to show me what a bad economy this is.

And Kevin Hassett will point it out for you.

Now, polls will say that the economy is bad.
