knew that Hockey Night in Canada was no longer what a couple of months ago now that announcement became official what we figured was something like Saturday Night Hockey would come into the fold in its place and that's exactly what has happened but of course there were some questions also about what cast of characters there was going to be because with the expiration of the deal there was the expiration of some individual contracts and now we know Elliott Friedman is back.

Kevin Bieksa is back.

Colby Armstrong sliding into a bit of a bigger role on Saturday nights.

Ron McLean will be there as well.

Sportsnet has announced more games than ever on their NHL broadcast schedule.

Elliott Friedman and Kevin Bieksa are back.

They've added Justin Williams to the crew, the NHL veteran.

But can I just say this for all the people, all the hand-wringing, all the hours, all the time that was wasted? On the anxiety of where Elliott Friedman and Kevin Bix are we getting? Do you feel at all foolish now? Do you feel silly at all? The two aren't going anywhere.

There was a lot on social media over the last number of weeks about how broadcasters Elliot Friedman and Kevin Bieksa had not signed contracts to return to Sportsnet.

Well, they have now because today...

Sportsnet rolled out their hockey broadcast plans, and they've renamed Hockey Night in Canada, because CBC is no longer there, to Saturday Night Hockey and Monday Night Hockey.

Saturday Night Hockey will still have Ron McLean, Elliot Freedom, Kevin Bieksa, and Colby Armstrong, who's frequently on the program and does a lot with the Spitting Chicklets program.

He was on Sportsnet, last year he did a number of interview segments.

He's quite a good commentator.

The latest, so Rogers slash Sportsnet announced their plans for coverage on a national scale for the coming hockey season.

There had been lots of rumors about the contract status of Elliott Friedman and Kevin Bieksa and whether they would be back.

It was announced yesterday that they have re-signed, so they're going to be back as part of their national coverage.

Jennifer Botterill, though, will not be back.
