As a result, calls to Juneau and Ketchikan have been canceled, leaving Skagway and Victoria as its remaining scheduled port stops.

Princess says the issue does not impact the safety of guest or crew, and technical teams are working to resolve the problem.

Sam's family has been living and fishing in Ketchikan, Alaska for several generations, and he understands the nature of the fish and the nature of the fishing industry.

I asked him about farmed versus wild-caught salmon, different varieties of salmon, salmon hatcheries, ethics of salmon, and eating fish when you live away from the ocean.

We also talked about alternatives to salmon and other types of fish that are good to eat, and we discussed seasonality and the storing of fresh and frozen fish.

Sam is educating us in this episode on how to find ethical suppliers wherever we may be and the quality of fish to look for.

So up to, you know, all the usual hotspots, Ketchikan, Juneau and Glacier Bay.

And then a stop in Victoria, which was a real big highlight because Victoria, we had about nine hours in port.

which gave me enough time that I could run over to the little ferry terminal in Victoria Harbor and buy a round-trip ticket for the Coho, which is this beautiful 1959-built ferry that was built to cross between Victoria and Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington.

Starts in San Diego, and it's San Diego to Vancouver.

But it visits the typical ports, Juneau, Ketchikan.

But then it visits some other ports that aren't as typical.

Rangel, Alaska, Kalawak, and Prince Rupert.

this one is round-trip Seattle and operates throughout the year.

And the thing that I like about this one is it's a much deeper Alaska itinerary.

Instead of stopping at the primary Southeast Alaska cruise ports, it goes to Anchorage, Kodiak, Valdez, in addition to some of those Southeast Alaska ports like Juneau and Ketchikan.
