And we start by looking at the cost of living in the country as consumer prices rose for the second month in a row as headline inflation increased marginally from 6.5% in July to 6.6% in August, with inflation remaining above 5% for the fifth consecutive month.

According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, this marginal increase was mainly driven by food and energy prices, as food inflation rose by 9% in August, while transport costs jumped by 15.7%.

These two categories accounted for about 4.1 percentage points of the overall inflation number, contributing nearly two-thirds of the annual increase in prices.

Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, this increased by 3.4%.

That's according to the Ministry of Energy.

But according to KNBS demographic and health survey, there's a tally that they did in 2022 that found that 58% of households had electricity.

And out of the 58%, 90% were urban, that 6% were rural.

Then APRA says 10.22 million grid-connected customer accounts were recorded by last year.
