And you need people-- When I say peer review, it, it was actually Dr. Morrison told me, "When you get asked to be the palliative care person on this grant review, you should say yes," so that our peers are reviewed by our, by scientists who understand palliative care, who understand the suffering of patients and their families, who understand the needs of our field.

And I, I appreciate also that there is a to be sure here, and I appreciate that Ken went there a little bit.

There are issues with NIH.

I know, have any of you read the book Abundance by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson? And they have a couple chapters that sort of address science and NIH.

And they talk about how, you know, it used to be that some higher proportion of investigators were funded before age thirty-five, and now it's like two percent.

It's like really low, right? [chuckles] And that, you know, the technology behind the mRNA vaccine just kept getting denied at NIH because it w- it wasn't enough, like, data.

It was too, like, out there and avant-garde, and we're not supporting research that, like, pushes on innovation.

I'm interested in learning a little bit more.

Sounds like you had your first cohorts and what the people doing this are telling you as to why they want to do this.

Because I'm wondering if they have some messages for us as a field as to why at, like, a young age they've decided they wanna do this.

And because one of the things I was thinking is, on the one hand, I'm thinking one pr- difficulty of structuring this is you could sort of say, well, on the one hand, okay, we're gonna develop this training program.

Which of Gerry's four pathways should we emphasize, or which aspects of identity that Mary talks about should we emphasize? And I'm also wondering if, like, there's more central psychological motivations of, like, like, are the people doing this? It's because this is the kind of doctor I wanna be.

This is the kind of professional I wanna be.
