and I have been going and coming from the hospital to the work camp during the last year and a half.

Kenneth Bae, an American Christian evangelical missionary born in South Korea, represented everything badly seen by the North Korean regime, the Christians.

South Koreans and the United States.

In 2006, Kenneth and his family moved to China and created Nations Tour, a tourism company that, according to Kenneth himself, took 300 Christian tourists from 17 countries to pray in North Korea.

He received constant blows and was threatened with beheading him and burying his body where no one could ever find him.

If he did not cooperate, he would be charged with war crimes and would end up shot in the public square.

Like Laura and Euna, Kenneth Bae had no choice but to collaborate and sign a forced confession.

After a brief trial, he was sentenced to 15 years of forced labor in a concentration camp only for foreigners.

But what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.

I think of Kenneth Bae, who was the longest serving American in a North Korean prison camp.

And I remember Kenneth in my classroom.

His English was not all that great.

If your God is so good, then why are you in this prison camp? The question asks from a North Korean guard to my former student, Kenneth Bae, who had made the mistake as he led a tour of Christians into North Korea, leaving on his computer messages indicating that he was hoping to help people pray for the people of North Korea.

When he left his hotel room and the government searched the room and scanned the computer, they came across those email and text notices and as a result convicted him of sedition, of seeking to undermine the North Korean government by having Christians pray for brothers and sisters in North Korea.

He was sentenced to hard labor, 15 years, and became the longest held American in a North Korean prison.
