Kenji Tanigaki

It is action, action, action.

So first, we're going to start from Hong Kong, The Furious, and that's directed by Kenji Tanigaki.

Then from the States, a film called Onslaught that came out last week, and that's directed by Adam Wingard, director that we covered before.

And then finally, newly released, we are covering Hope, a Korean action film getting some love, and that's directed by Na Hong-jin.

By then it stretches into Predator territory and finally falls a bit flat.

For its non-stop action but also seriously underwritten characters, it's in the same vein of one of my other favorite Asian movies of this year, Kenji Tanigaki's Hong Kong action spectacle The Furious, with its own wild and unique style.

With Hope's ending, Nahongjin is clearly angling for a sequel, and though I was exhilarated but exhausted by its finish, I'll certainly watch the next chapter.

For now, I'll give Hope three and a half stars.
