In this final episode, we'll follow those recordings, the searches, and the legal battles that would bring the police theory under scrutiny.

We'll return to that morning in Kendall and examine what would have to be true for their version of events to have happened.

We'll also take a look at where the case is today and the lasting impact it's had.

This is part four of the case of William Tyrrell.

The former friend described Abbott as, quote, very convincing with denial, and said they'd been friends for years before he learned Abbott had been tried for Helen Harrison's murder.

He also said Abbott repeatedly denied ever visiting Benaroon Drive, yet described little-known entrances and exits via dirt tracks and fire trails.

He says that once, Abbott pointed out a traffic camera in Kendall, noting that police would have him on camera if he took that route.

The former friend said detectives told him Abbott couldn't drive or didn't know how, something he would later call, quote, "'absolute rubbish.'" Now let's talk about Ray Porter.

This is actually where we got most of that very personal information about who William was that I told you about in episode 1, so I'm going to skip right to the testimony about the case.

In her testimony, William's foster mother emphasized that very few people knew that her family would be going to Kendall that weekend, and that even fewer knew that they were going to leave on Thursday instead of Friday.

She said this was a last-minute decision that depended on whether or not they could get their cats into a boarding facility a day early.

She also discussed the vehicle she spotted in the area that day, saying she saw two cars that morning that she describes as dirty, old, and missing hubcaps.

Unfortunately, no one seems to be able to confirm exactly where Donahue was or what he was doing on the morning William disappeared.

In September 2014, he did work at a Caltex gas station in Lakewood.

It's about a 10-minute drive from Kendall.

Sharon Starr, Donahue's former manager at the station, took the stand to say that she did not know for sure if he worked on September 12th, but she thought he did.

Like I told you earlier, Spedding said that he and Margaret were attending an assembly at their grandson's school on the morning of September 12th, 2014.

Meaning, they were not in Kendall.

And Spedding was not planning on completing the repair at William's foster grandmother's home that morning.

Bill and Margaret said that they met at Cafe Buzz in Lauriton before attending their grandson's school assembly.

Harris reports that records from the Postal Service say that the second part needed to fix William's grandmother's washing machine was delivered at 12.19 p.m. on Friday.

which of course was after William was last seen in Kendall.

Phone records show that Spedding called William's foster grandmother's landline at 2.46 p.m. to let her know that the parts had come in.
