This is a book about a woman called Dilara who hires builders to install a new bathroom in her apartment in Italy, but they instead create what appears to be a Turkish jail cell, which is in fact not a replica, but a magical portal to a fully functioning prison that exists in Istanbul.

I read this novel as a proof last year.

And it's just such a powerful theme and element that I really wasn't expecting from the book because it didn't really... convey itself in the synopsis right so um i loved it i didn't give it a perfect score like it was a four star rating for me but it's definitely no

i just thought it was such a great book i just really am concerned about whether or not it will resonate with other people that don't know much about turkish politics so that's i think the only kind of thing that i think is going to hold it back but i do really hope that it gets shortlisted for the booker prize And that is The Renovation by Kenan Orhan.
